Long-term goals

A pear tree stands alone a large patch of compacted clay soil, covered with landscape fabric which is being peeled back. Behind it is a short, boring lawn.

When I first saw this space I was struck by how bare, sterile, and controlled it looked. I wanted to bring life to it, but wow what a daunting project. But I’d been watching Big Dreams, Small Spaces and I understood I had to break it down into small achievable goals, year by year. The trick is to somehow maintain the vision, and the motivation to get through all the digging, watering, planting, weeding, planning, iterating and sweating to get there.
