A cold, misty Sunday

This morning we went for a walk in the woods, and this afternoon was spent in the garden. The best way to enjoy the weather is in it!

Yesterday we refilled the bird feeder and it took barely an hour before the garden was filled with dark-eyed juncos and steller’s jays. Today we were treated to a flicker woodpecker, and one I haven’t seen before, a downy woodpecker.

My phone died suddenly and inexplicably this week, so I took this shot with a potato, apologies! You can’t really tell but it’s super floofy, and has a bright red hat.

We also got a breathtaking view from the family room of an Anna’s hummingbird drinking from the feeder on the window. I’d never noticed the iridescent red patches on their throats, they’re absolutely stunning!

I’ll keep trying to take a photo but they’re usually gone by the time you’ve raised an arm. I doubt I’d be able to capture it anyway, the way the light plays on it. Luna has been enjoying watching them too!
